Sorry for the slow update on my Sydney trip. Last week was a crazy week for me but at least i am back with updates again!

a weird hobby of mine whenever i am travelling, i love to visit their supermarket or convenience stores like kmart, family mart… etc.
Here i am in one of Australia’s biggest supermarket, Woolworths. Something random, i prefer Woolworths to Coles. haha.
After bourke street bakey, we got some time to spare before dinner at Kylie Kwong’s restaurant so we went to a nearby supermarket to get some groceries for our apartment in Sydney! (YES, our itinerary was all about EAT, EAT, EAT & EAT MORE! haha)
Shanel told me pink lady apples are best apples she ever tasted. So i went to get it and try, and i think it tasted like premium fuji apples. haha! Not bad not bad.

i love the smoked club cheddar from margaret river! Brought one back home 🙂
Then we went into a pharmacist shop. Apparently, you can find a lot of different kinds of supplements and pills there even without a doctor’s prescription unlike in singapore, and it’s much cheaper to get it in Australia too!
One of my girlfriends got too excited that she lugged back almost 10kg worth of pills -_-
Billy Kwong Restaurant, Kylie Kwong’s restaurant.
Their signature dish in the shop, fried eggs. This simple dish costs us 19aud. Indeed the most expensive egg i ever had in my life till now. The taste is very interesting, it’s oily & there’s chili oil and vinegar in it. Worth trying but i think this dish could be even better if it’s a little bit more spicy.
Homestyle fried biodynamic(what is this?!) eggs with organic tamri & homemade XO.If i am not wrong, this is stir-fried organic chickweed, milk thistle,marshmallow plant, nettles, dandelion & cavolo nero with young ginger& organic tamari (15aud)
Yes, i know. This dish name is really long & i have no idea what was that when my vegetarian gf ordered that.
Tasted like quite salty stir-fried greens but goes well with rice.
i think they roasted or dry-fried the chickweed before stir-fry with oil & rest of the ingredients which gives this dish a very unique burnt yet pleasant taste.
Dry-fried biodynamic hokkien noodles with chinese cabbage, homemade XO & grained kombu (100% natural), 27 aud.
This gotta be my favourite out of all.
Red- braised, caramelised black berkshire pork belly with malfroy’s yellow box honeycomb, organic fish sauce
(100% natural), fresh lemon & sichuan pepper, 42 aud.
(i think the menu basically named out all the condiments & ingredients used in each dish. haha)
The most expensive pork belly dish ever.
The sauce of this pork belly was sweet and oily, i thought the pork was quite tough for my liking.
I wouldn’t recommend this dish at all.
Definitely one of the better chinese food in Sydney, worth trying if u are a fan of Kylie Kwong or TLC fan.
Hope to get hold of one of her books to improve my chinese cooking 🙂
That’s the end of my Sydney Day 1.
Day 2 soon, i promised.
After hearing so much about Bourke Street Bakery, when i know i was going to Sydney, the first thing that came to my mind was “I NEED TO GO BOURKE STREET BAKERY IN SYDNEY!”. Therefore, my first stop in Sydney was that. I really love Sydney a lot, not so sure about the people but the place is really beautiful. The street, houses and shops are so LONDON. I don’t know how to describe to you guys how beautiful Sydney is, so i shall let the pictures do the talking.
Getting around in Sydney wasn’t easy for us. Sydney, just the CBD alone can kill all of our brain cells. The routes, trains, buses are quite complex, maybe because Sydney itself is really big unlike Singapore. There’s no 1 bus that u can get straight to your destination. Taking 2 buses to a place and you should consider yourself lucky. I haven’t even calculate the amount of walking we did. CRAZY. Despite changing so many buses, there’s still a significant amount of walking to be done & lots of map reading. I think i have promoted from a map noob to a map pro. Anyway I forgot how many buses we took and how long we walked (all i remembered was I WALKED ALOT) but we finally reached or found our destination after like 2 hours from our apartment? We were famished.
so many yummy pastries! so spoilt for choices :p
On the table: croissant, chocolate tart & mushroom quiche.
croissant wasn’t that fresh anymore but still not so bad, chocolate tart was good (very rich!) & quiche wasn’t that salty enough for my liking. If only the quiche got more cheese in it & it will be PERFECTO.
Bourke Street Bakery serves quite a good cup of latte & hot chocolate! 🙂

There’s 2 extreme responses to the lemon cream tart.
1) way too eggy & the lemon tanginess made the eggy tasted like rotten eggs ( that’s me and shanel’s vote)
2) very yummy ( don’t ask me why cause i don’t understand why)
I thought this carrot cake was pretty good. The cake was just moist enough & spices in the cake wasn’t overwhelming.
The only thing was NOT ENOUGH CREAM CHEESE 🙁
Overall it was a pleasant visit to Bourke Street Bakery. Couldn’t find anything much to complain about because the beautiful scenery, afternoon mild sun ray, weather & companions had covered up the imperfections.
I miss cafe hopping in Sydney already!
